Lincoln Memorial Evacuated As F4J Breach US Security
Two Fathers 4 Justice activists from the UK today scaled the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC in the United States at approximately 1.30pm local time.
The activists scaled the memorial by dressing as tourists and the scaling the memorial by hand before unveiling themselves in Captain America and Batman costumes as well as displaying a banner that read ‘For the Fathers of the Nation: Fathers 4 Justice has arrived www.F4JUSA.com’
Armed Capitol Police and the FBI quickly evacuated the memorial and arrested several ground crew and tourists as scuffles on the ground ensued.
The protest marks the start of the group's US campaign.

We are heading down tonight-man those guys are awesome! Glenn, I will write up a short article for you about the event on Sunday.

This is great! However, do you (plural) think the media will black it out?
August 17th, 2007 at 4:29 pm
Also, do you think the U.S. Gov't will label them a domestic terrorist group?
August 17th, 2007 at 4:41 pm
I don't think they could be a 'domestic terrorist group' unless they have an interest in actually 'terrorizing' (as opposed to practicing civil disobedience) and a body count? I think NOW would far better qualify for that label.
However, at a minimum I would be surprised if they used the RICO (sp?) anti-organized crime laws. I recall them using them against the father rights protest group here, 'Fathers United' here in NH when they 'conspired' to deny 'the children' some or all of the so-called 'child support' during what I remember as a 'child support strike' 10 or 15 years ago. By my experience, 'the children only matter' when a mother and the State want to have excuse to reach into someone's wallet one more time, as we all know how much they REALLY care about the children.

Yay! Hurray for Captain American and Batman.
I thought that the US only had the Invisible Man.
I'm enthused. Awesome. Simply Awesome.
Thank you Brits.
What does a FatherTime costume look like? Stripes?

I love these guys. Their hearts have been torn away from them, and they can still laugh about it.
Gandhi would be proud.

These are brave men.
As foreigners, they would know there's a chance they could be denied legal protection.
Though they'll probably only be deported as quickly as possible, someone somewhere might find the temptation to throw some weight around too overwhelming - and then we have a situation.

How long does it take for these things to get on the news wires? It's several hours later and there's nothing at CNN, AP, Reuters, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, BBC. Google has only indexed the Mensnewsdaily pieces.
August 17th, 2007 at 8:21 pm
I know what you mean JD. It's a blackout, as of right now.
I'm starting to see how the media plays into the whole issue.
Downright disgusting.
"Armed Capitol Police and the FBI quickly evacuated the memorial and arrested several ground crew and tourists as scuffles on the ground ensued."
I wonder how poor single mother Brittney Spears is doing.... That @#$#$ is all over the place.
I see that the media is not our friend...except for our good friend GSacks. :-)

Haha that was great! I was there today and they keep moving us back and back. Then they wouldn't let us cross to the opposite side at the reflection pond and people started to get aggravated. On African American female bike officer was annoying me. She just keep screaming at everyone. Even a old man that didnt have a clue why he couldent get by.

This was a signature moment in the US Father's movement and we need to publish this all over the world just as they did for Buckingham Palace when the first UK protests splashed in newspapers. So far, I haven't found anything else on the net about this and even Wikipedia failed to mention it on the Lincoln Memorial page.
I think we should make Fathers4Justice the lead fathers movement for the country and get off our duffs and support 'em. They have great name ID and they shake the foundations better than most. JPC, anti-judge campaigns, and banners on famous landmarks sound like the best plan.
I wonder if we can ever get a banner running across a football field on a nationally televised game?

And now, in the very capitol of the so-called "Land of the Free", we have
"D.C. Police and FBI Seize Fathers Rights Activists and Confiscate Video Tape Records of Activists' Protests
(my headline based on observations in this blog)
Are these tapes going to start showing up, or is it time for some legal hardball and world-scale protests against the fools running rampant within the ever extending reach of the multiplicity of "security arms" of our own government?

What amazed me, or maybe didn't amaze me was the violation of the civil rights of the tourists who were taking pictures of the memorial. The security guards seemed more interested in preventing free speech and free press, as well as the right for civilians to take pictures at the memorial than anything else. This is a small sample of the loss of freedoms and the restrictions that are yet to come America.

"What amazed me, or maybe didn't amaze me was the violation of the civil rights of the tourists who were taking pictures of the memorial."
I didn't get that sense from watching the video clip. While I heard a lot of shouting about not taking pictures, it was in the context of not encouraging the F4J people climbing on the monument. They were also asking people to move back away from the scene. I have had several friends who have worked as police officers and know that gawking crowds can interfere with an arrest. I don't think this was a matter of violating rights of tourists but of preventing this from becoming an even bigger freak show than it already was, while actually protecting the confidentiality and rights of those being arrested. (BTW, I can't confirm at this point with 100% certainty, but it's my understanding that one of the US protesters arrested had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for, shal we say, a matter that had to do with not treating a child well. I'll keep y'all posted if I find out the details for sure.

The UK is doing a better job of covering this story than the U.S. media.
It's plain to see why the system is the way it is.... and that does depend on what your definition of is is.
Oh well, it meant alot to me.
It's a start in forcing society to look at the issue. Because the media will not cover the issue any other way.
I think that I'll go have some tea in their honor. (Batman and Captain America)

If you can't refrain from acting like spoiled brat kids, please stay in your own countries and well away from ours.
I guess those goobs forgot that when they applied to enter our country, they were asking to come as our guests. That's not how guests repay their hosts and frankly it makes me sorry that we--the United States of America--bothered saving their countries from Germany and Japan in World War Two.
And if that's how they acted during their marriages, I can understand why they're divorced and barred from having custody of any kids today.

Or, in the alternative, you could start acting like MEN instead of behaving like whiny disruptive kids who throw tantrums at the grocery store because your mom didn't buy you the sugary cereal that you saw on the TV commercials.
If you want respect, you need to show that you're worthy of it and the best way is to stand tall and demonstrate honor, integrity, trustworthiness and maturity. Showing your asses over and over again won't do it for you.

"If you want respect, you need to show that you're worthy of it and the best way is to stand tall and demonstrate honor, integrity, trustworthiness and maturity. "
RESPECT?
You do not even know the meaning of the word, because otherwise you would understand why they did it.
I must earn$ respect to be a father, but a mother gets respect by default? That is the issue.
