Amanda Marcotte Named 'Blogger-in-Chief' for John Edwards Campaign

January 30th, 2007 by Glenn Sacks, MA for Fathers & Families

Feminist blogger Amanda Marcotte has just been named 'Blogger-in-Chief' for the John Edwards campaign. (Marcotte, you may recall, is very critical of the men's movement, and recently labeled my column Men Blamed for Marriage Decline but Women's Relationship Wounds Often Self-Inflicted, Chicago Tribune, 1/21/07, "hateful").

As I mentioned before, I think Amanda is a talented writer, and I like her personally, but I am surprised. Marcotte is--and I don't even think she would disagree--a foul-mouthed radical feminist. Seems like an odd blogger-in-chief for a presidential candidate--and a fodder-rich target for Edwards' enemies.

Kathleen Parker's Save the Males
Cultural provocateur Kathleen Parker, who was raised by her father and who mothered a pack of boys, makes a humorous case for rescuing the allegedly stronger sex from trends that portend man's cultural demise. Save the Males is a shrewd, amusing, and sure-to-be-controversial look at how men, maleness, and fatherhood have been under siege in American culture for decades. Mr. Edwards will have reason to regret this move before long. It does tell me all I need to know about the man that he would make such an appointment, and there are many Democratic voters like me out there.

I like the way you think. I'm going to tell some of my friends on the left about your website.
