Reporter Looking for Divorced Dads Who've Remarried, Second Wives

January 21st, 2008 by Glenn Sacks, MA for Fathers & Families

I was recently contacted by a reporter who is looking for men or women who fit either of the two profiles below:

1) You are a divorced dad who has remarried.

2) You are a second wife.

You do not need to use your full name with the reporter. If this is you, please send me your name, phone number, and a brief (100 words max) description of yourself by clicking here.

[Note: Thanks to all those who responded to my request last month for struggling married couples. The show I was recruiting you for was Inside Edition, and the couple from my list appeared on the show January 9. Thanks also to all those who responded to my October request for Texas dads with child support issues. Three of those who responded to our notice appeared on a Fox Houston TV special on dads and child support on November 5. To watch that show, click here.]

Keep going Glenn. Another excellent demographic "vertical-market segment" here. Help to uncover the American majority of citizens who are impacted by these issues. Build the quilt one segment at a time. Then deliver it graciously into the hands of an appropriate, majority-minded individual who has demonstrated compatible and comformable positions -- and the willingness and ability to act.

I will second A.P's sentiments, Excellent work Glen!! And all posters for that matter!!

Here on Glenns and other mensrights discussion forums, we can start a buzz around mens/fathers rights that will slowly trickle into the main stream!!

You have our full support and attention Glenn!

Remarried Dad of 3. Filed and was granted a divorce in 98, joint custody, but the state of New Mexico allowed the ex to move to Maryland with the kids. Sure I could visit them...cross country. I remarry in 1999 (we move to utah on job transfer), the ex remarries in 2000 (remains in Maryland).
New step dad physically assaults my eldest son (then 14). Assault was reported by Maryland school officials).
The cross country legal battle begins and I fight for sole custody for all three (2 boys, 1 girl). After 2 years, I was finally granted full custody of my eldest. But the step father has an abusive demeanor and fear the other two will end up like my eldest. Late 2004, 6 figures $$$ later, the court rules the step father has changed his ways and the kids will stay with the mother. Not only did we lose the case, we lost everything and went into Chapter 13.

No surprise...within a few months after losing the case, the emotionally abuse starts with the other two. Top this, the mother decides to have another kid (42)...step dad's pride and joy...a son. Now the isolation starts. Youngest is now 14, mother refuses to give him any voice to decide. He wants to live with my wife and I, start high school and to enjoy a loving and attentive life. My daughter, 17 wants to finish her high school then move out to Utah (understandable).

Question - how do I get my son out of this environment?

God Bless my curent wife as she stood by me in the custody battle from hell, watched as we lost everything in a just fight, and still is here with me, wanting my children to live with us.

I just saw this and responded. I want to echo "Minicoopsmom" and I can't say it any better: "Thanks for keeping our issues front and center, Glenn!"
