Madonna's Appalling Divorce Behavior

November 12th, 2008 by Glenn Sacks, MA for Fathers & Families

"But as Guy held his two boys close for the first time in weeks, his estranged wife tightened her grip from the other side of the Atlantic."

The list looks like someone's parody of what a vindictive, controlling eco-mom/ego-mom might do. Who knows, maybe the Daily Mail is wrong and it is a parody. The details in the story below, however, are chilling.

From Mama don't preach: Madonna lets Guy see his boys... on 12 conditions (Daily Mail, 11/11/08):

After weeks apart, an emotional Guy Ritchie was reunited with his sons Rocco and David at a London airport this morning.

The director's children were back on English soil after being whisked away to the US by Madonna, who is in the throes of her Sticky and Sweet tour.

But as Guy held his two boys close for the first time in weeks, his estranged wife tightened her grip from the other side of the Atlantic.

The Mail has learned that the 50-year-old has issued a list of demands that Ritchie must meet while the children are with him in London. It includes a ban on TV, non-organic food and clothes not sent by her.

Eight-year-old Rocco looked delighted to be back in his father's company and threw his arms around him after walking through the gates at Gatwick.

Guy also shared a hug with David, three, whom he adopted from Malawi in 2006, later hoisting him on his hip as they made their way through the terminal.

An onlooker says: 'Rocco shouted, "Dad!" in the loudest voice.'

'Both he and David were smiling. Guy literally threw his coffee aside to free up his hands and run over. You could tell they were all so excited to see each other'...

Rocco and David have barely seen their father since Guy and Madonna announced their plans for divorce in mid October...

Madonna is understood to want leave the family's London base and move back to the U.S...

I previously discussed Madonna's divorce in my blog post Madonna Plays Victim in Divorce Battle.

It is a ridiculous list if not a parody.

If not a parody it is no doubt designed to be unattainable so she can claim he doesn't do what is best (in her determination) for the children.

Or designed to be such a joy sucking endeavor for the children they won't want to visit Dad again.

  2. Stan Says:

The same basic thing happens all the time to men in most of the Western countries.

That is what I thought... then quickly realized that there are some weird people out there…. Especially in the entertainment industry.

  4. Georgia Girl Says:

    yes, probably fake

  5. John Boy Says:

It is difficult to raise children with someone with a titantic ego. When the woman is "empowered" with money it can be a disaster.

Most women, not matter what they tell you, consider the childern to be their domain. This poo poo about equality ends very quickly when "their" childern are the prize. The problem for Madonna is that her hubby has enough money that he does not need her cooperation either. He can afford good lawyers, a good home, and paid domestic help which means that she cannot use undue influence to dominate the outcome.

If Guy was my friend I would tell him him what I did, "In dad's house it dad's rules". Madonna can go suck some Kaballa water.

I want more proof before I believe this. Not everything on the internet is for real.

  7. Stan Says:

In which country would Madonna prefer to get divorced? I wonder what her choice would be, and if in fact she does have a choice. That might provide an interesting commentary on the differences between US and UK divorces. I hear huge and widespread complaints coming out of both countries. And i know for sure things are a train wreck in the US as I saw it with my own now-wide-open eyes and heard it from many people I try to advise.

  8. Bernie Misiura Says:

I think he should send the kids back with an equally absurd list of DOs and DON'Ts.

perspicacious -- "This is something ALL women must face or at least the pretty ones. That is again why I call menopause The Great Equalizer among women."

I suppose it is true that youth enhances a woman's desireability, and menopause can be cruel with regard to sefl esteem based on superficial beauty standards.

But I spent just a couple minutes recalling incredibly women (alive and deceased) who preserved an amazing aura of beauty and grace well past menopuase -

    Katherine Hepburn
    Marlena Dietrich
    Fay Dunaway
    Joann Cassidy
    Daryll Hannah
    Diane Keaton

I'm sure the list could go on and on....

The cliche is that men can be handsome in their senior years, but women's beauty fades quickly after menopause.

Last year I lost a 78 year-old aunt to cancer - a very accomplished wonan who ran her own advertising firm and put me up in her condo at 16 Park Avenue when I visited NYC.

The last time I saw her was at the Drake Hotel in Chicago, and even though she was very sick, she could still turn heads.

Women have choices about how to deal with aging. Hopefully by the time menopause rolls around, most have outgrown infantile feminism and its Cosmo culture.

"Could" someone give me an example of a toy that's spiritually and ethically unsound (as allegedly defined by Madonna)?

How about a white GI Joe

  11. Chris_C Says:

Guy has money. In his shoes I'd hire Kabuki actors to bless the water and food, then claim there was a typo in the instructions.

  12. Offended_Dad Says:

    chris_c - Kabuki dancers - now *that*s funny.

In cone-bra's, no less, done to the tune of "strike a pose", or whatever that tune's called.

  13. coffee Says:

I really thought Madonna and Guy Richie would last longer than they did...
