Why can't they stay little forever?

If you have a daughter in the ten-year-old range, you're probably familiar with the Disney show Hannah Montana. My daughter sometimes forces me to watch it with her. Well, "forces" isn't exactly accurate, since she snuggles up in my arms as we watch, which would probably make even going to the opera worth it.
We had my son's birthday party the other night and, via a friend of a friend, teen actress Shanica Knowles--one of the show's co-stars--came to our house. Naturally my daughter and her little friend were star-struck.
Knowles (pictured) was very gracious, giving each of them an autograph and also posing for photos with each.
My daughter was awed, and afterwards was furiously texting all her little friends to tell them about meeting Knowles. It was very cute.
Why can't they stay little forever?
P.S. Thanks Shanica--you made a little girl very happy and you're a class act.
