Misandric Pop Culture: Testosterone Makes You Stupid
July 13th, 2010 by Robert Franklin, Esq.Just in case you thought the communications media were throttling back on their misandry, think again. Better yet, go here (GoComics.com, 7/11/10). (Click on the cartoon to enlarge it.)
It’s another one of those cartoons that presents the most virulent sexism as humor. By “sexism” of course I mean only the anti-male kind. These people would never dream of running a piece criticizing women per se. Even less would they criticize women’s sexual body chemistry. And still less would they identify women as equivalent to that sexual body chemistry. No, all of that is considered terribly wrong.
But when it comes to men, it’s all fair game. According to the cartoon, men are simply deficient women, and it’s all the fault of testosterone. I guess women’s testosterone must be different from men’s in some unexplained way. But whatever the cartoonist’s concept is, female human beings are immediately identified as superior and male ones as inferior. And it’s all due to the various levels of testosterone. Indeed, the less of it a man has, the better he is. That is, the more his body chemistry comes to resemble that of women, the better he is.
Add to that the fact that, according to the cartoon, it’s specifically intelligence that’s related to testosterone, or the lack thereof. Less of the sex hormone makes you smarter, you see. That’s one I sure didn’t know, but of course I wouldn’t. And we all know why, don’t we.
